Question Help with forms

I understand basic form structure and mailing results, however for this form i'm trying to figure out is a bit different. The form itself will consist of 1 query line. where a member would simply insert their name to sign up for an event. From this point when they submit, what i want the form to do is somehow store the name. On the very same page i'm trying to have a list of the names of the people that have submitted. So what i basically want to try and do is have the form submit to a list within the same page. I've fiddled around and i can get a form to simply display a name, but i don't know how to make this list permanent, so that others that load up the samepage can see the results from previous viewers submission. and at the same time sign up via the form and their name would be added to the list. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated..

Thanks in advance,
Jon

I think you want a database. And to read from/write to it, you'll need a scripting language like PHP or ASP. Javascript will not be able to do it for you.
