Smile ASP Self-posting form with hidden variable

We have an index.asp page that checks to see if incoming client is from an affiliate link (checks for URL or cookie variable for affiliate code). It's been working fine for years.

The problem is that we want to get away from ASP and use Coldfusion pages for our site ... but we have hundreds of affiliates out there who are referring clients to us with URLs that contain their "affiliate code". Since those links are all over the place, we must keep the index.asp page.

What we want to do is grab the affiliate code from the URL then pass it to our new index.cfm page without the client being required to press "Submit".

In other words, we want to get the affiliate code with the ASP page and pass it to the CFM page without user interaction ... and, for the life of me, I can't figure out a way to do this ... which is posing a very difficult problem for us at the moment, since we NEED to change over to CFM but cannot delete the index.asp where referred clients come to us for sales.

Any and all help will be truly appreciated!

... Frederick

Here's the answer!

Using ASP we get the URL variable.
We then assign that variable to another, e.g., "Code".
We then add "Code" to the string that is the http: address of the page we wish to go to.
We then simply REDIRECT to that page (in this case a CFM page that is, of course, on a coldfusion server that won't recognize session variables in the ASP server).

Coldfusion then gets the URL variable, and we're good.

In case anybody wants to know how it's done.

Thanks for posting your solution.

Remeber to do the redirect using HTTP headers, not JavaScript (unreliable)
