How difficult would it be to.....

Hey Guys,

I'm totally new to ASP and am pretty much learning from the ground up.

There is a website called camospecs.com that was done using ASP. How difficult would it be to duplicate that functionality? I have spoken with the author and he has stated that he isn't able to release the code as it's proprietary he did say I was welcome to emulate/duplicate it.

So, anyone have any idea how difficult something like this would be to learn?

NOTE: I would have posted examples but apparently I am not allowed to post links yet till I am all growed up.

- Display a news/updates page with the latest articles and items added to the database.

- Post pictures (one or several) and a description into a database using form?.

- Call that information from a database into dynamically generated pages.

- List all the contents of the database from a specific table and make those clickable links to dynamically generated pages.

Any help someone could give would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Michael

Hey,

It depends on how much effort and time you want to put into it. It isn't terribly difficult. You can view one of our own Developer Shed sites (www.aspfree.com) for ASP.Net tutorials that should help you get started. Microsoft's MSDN library is also a great resource.

If you don't want to put as much effort into it, or want a simpler, quicker solution, I'd suggest using a CMS. You can go with DotNetNuke, Joomla, Drupal, WordPress, and so forth. All of them have modules or plug-ins that can help you emulate the functionality of that site.

Hope that helps.
