hey rathaur,
I think the best place to start learning vb.net or C# for a C++/C developer like you is to start by studying the ibuyspy portal or store sample app by microsoft. It shows you the design pattern, features and other stuff that's different from javaand c++ /c !!! note tho, VB.NET is NOT new version of VB so you will find that learning curve for VB.NET will be about the same as C# so don't let "VB" in the name fool you into thinking that its easier ![]() gotdotnet and asp.net has great articles on beginning .net. hope this helps JAmes

I much prefer C# because it is more common and has better syntax, it is the same ease/difficulty as VB.NET because it's pretty much just the syntax that is different. C# also has a few more small useful features.
I would suggest taking a look at the http://www.gotdotnet.com web site for some examples of code (in both C# and VB.NET) If you don't have any ASP.NET development software you should get Web Matrix at http://www.asp.net. Once you start getting into .NET (with any of the languages) you have to get familiar with the .NET MSDN library at http://msdn.microsoft.com/net which is one of the best .NET resources you can get. The MSDN also provides a magazine, the articles from it can be viewed online at http://msdn.microsoft.com/msdnmag/. Another web site that I regularly visit is http://www.dotnetjunkies.com, it has a lot of articles and regularly gets new ones. Once you start getting more advanced I suggest taking a look at http://msdn.microsoft.com/architecture/ and http://msdn.microsoft.com/practices/. Also, get to know a few people on ICQ who already know ASP.NET, that is one of the best ways to learn the tricks of the trade. My ICQ# is 74637937 if you would like to contact me. Cheers, Vantera |
