A Sound problem

im havin a problem with the beep command. basically, im not getting any sound on my comp. i tried it on another older comp and it worked, so i kno its not the code. anyone kno whats wrong with my machine? i didnt think you needed anything decent to use beep(), cuz i wrote entire songs with sound() nosound() and delay() on borland's back during C++ class. now im stuck with dev c++ as my compiler, and beep() isnt working. any ideas?

It's quite possible that your pc speaker ain't connected to your motherboard - or you don't have one at all (less possible). Open your box and check it out.

what exactly is a pc speaker? is it not whatevers plugged into the sound output on the back of the mobo?

It has nothing to do with the sound output of your motherboard on the back of the computer. It's a lil speaker inside your pc that can give off lil beeps.

thats what i thought. any idea why i cant hear mine? its a gigabyte p4 titan mATX if that helps

Look at your volume settings, and got to options>>properties (in windows).
If you notice a device along the lines of 'internal speaker' or 'beep', then check to make sure that the device is not muted.
