College Test Worth 60% Please Help Me

Wright a program which uses a 1D array to store 10 tempatures readings.
The user should indicate at the start of the program,what scale is being used when the data is being enterd,either Celcius or Fahrenheit.

When the 10 tempatures are enterd the program should proceed to convert C->F or F-C tematures, whichever is the case in question and display the results using suitable output messages

The program should uses 4 functions,main(),controller(),ctof() and ftoc(). The purpose of each of these functions is as follows:

Function Name: Controller()
Object: Ask user for scale in which the data will be entered gets the 10 tempatures into the 1D array. Calls either the ctof () or ftoc() function passing a tempature to be converted. prints out the result sent back from the function in a suitable format.

Function Name: ctof()
Object: Takes in Celcius tempature and returns the equivelent Fahrenheit tempature.

Function Name: ftoc()
Object: Takes in a fahrenheit tempture and retunrs the equivelant Celcius tempature

The following formulae should be used for tempature conversions:

Fahrenheit-> Celcius/5*9 + 32

Celcius->(Farenheit -32)/9*5

The candidate should hand up design documantation, a fully commented listing of the program code and a set of test data for the program.

Please help me with this i will be very thankfull it would mean alot to me if i pass this so i came to u guys the professinals who do this kind of thing its worth %60 to me and if i pass this i could go along way

Thank you

Well, I think it's no good neither to you nor to us to give you some code and that's it.. So have you done anything so far? If yes provide us with that to correct or tell some ideas...

Since you're not answering, I thought of giving you some help....
Well firstly you'll need a menu... here's an example:
C++ Code:
Original - C++ Code
  1.
  2. #include <iostream>
  3. using namespace std;
  4.
  5. int Menu();
  6. int Save();
  7. int Load();
  8. int Show();
  9.
  10. int main()
  11. {
  12.     for(;;) //for EVER
  13.     {
  14.         int selection=Menu();
  15.         switch(selection)
  16.         {
  17.         case 1:
  18.             Save();
  19.             break;
  20.         case 2:
  21.             Load();
  22.             break;
  23.         case 3:
  24.             Show();
  25.             break;
  26.         case 4:
  27.             return 0;
  28.         }
  29.     }
  30.     return 0;
  31.     return 0;
  32. }
  33.
  34. int Menu()
  35. {
  36.     int selection;
  37.     cout<<"\nMenu Example                         by CoSt@s\n";
  38.     cout<<"-------------------------------------------------\n";
  39.
  40.     cout<<"This is Test!! ";
  41.
  42.     cout<<"\tChoose:";
  43.     cout<<"\n\t\t(1)Save   \n\t\t(2)Load\n\t\t(3)Show\n\t\t(4)Quit\n\t\t";
  44.     cin>>selection;
  45.
  46.     return selection;
  47. }
  48.
  49. int Save()
  50. {
  51.     // write your code here
  52.     return 0;
  53. }
  54.
  55. int Load()
  56. {
  57.     // write your code here
  58.     return 0;
  59. }
  60.
  61. int Show()
  62. {
  63.     // write your code here
  64.     return 0;
  65. }

Then, you'll need to construct the three functions..... Let's start with the Controller() ..... I think that it is an easy one but before saying anything about it I think it'd be better to say that you need to have a global array variable and a global type variable(global means that it is defined before the main function AND type meaning an int variable which if it is 0 the input temperature is celcius and if any other the temperature is farenheit)... Well now as for the Controller() function the only thing you need to do is to is a loop to get each time a cell of the global array... here's an example:
C++ Code:
Original - C++ Code
  1.
  2. #include <iostream>
  3. using namespace std;
  4.
  5. int test_table[10];
  6. int get(); //function to get the data
  7.
  8. int main()
  9. {
  10.     get();
  11.     return(0);
  12. }
  13.
  14. int get()
  15. {
  16.     for(int i=0;i<10;i++) //10 is the length of the table
  17.     {
  18.         cout<<"Please give me an integer number: ";
  19.         cin>>test_table[i];
  20.     }
  21.     return(0);
  22. }

Then as for the two other functions I think I don't have to say anything... You just have to give the input temperature and return the converted temperature using formulas given.... e.g:
C++ Code:
Original - C++ Code
  1.
  2. #include <iostream>
  3. using namespace std;
  4.
  5. int get(int a);
  6.
  7. int main()
  8. {
  9. int x = get(10);
  10. cout<<x;
  11. return(0);
  12. }
  13.
  14. int get(int a)
  15. {
  16. a = (a/5)*9 + 32; //celcius to farenheit (if i'm right)
  17. return a;
  18. }

Hope I helped!!!

Well here it is:

C++ Code:
Original - C++ Code
  1.
  2. #include <iostream>
  3. using namespace std;
  4.
  5. int temps[10];
  6. int ctemps[10];
  7.
  8. int Controller();
  9. int ctof(int);
  10. int ftoc(int);
  11.
  12. int main()
  13. {
  14.     for(;;)
  15.     {
  16.         Controller();
  17.     }
  18.     return(0);
  19. }
  20.
  21. int Controller()
  22. {
  23.     int t(0);
  24.     char* op;
  25.     char* cl;
  26.     cout<<"Please tell me what type of convertion you want? Celcius to Farenheit (0) or Farenheit to Celcius (1)? ";
  27.     cin>>t;
  28.     for(int i=0;i<10;i++)
  29.     {
  30.         cout<<"Give me one temperature: ";
  31.         cin>>temps[i];
  32.         if(t == 0)
  33.             ctemps[i] = ctof(temps[i]);
  34.         else
  35.             ctemps[i] = ftoc(temps[i]);
  36.     }
  37.     if(t==0)
  38.     {
  39.         op = "Celcius: ";
  40.         cl = "Farenheit: ";
  41.     }
  42.     else
  43.     {
  44.         cl = "Celcius: ";
  45.         op = "Farenheit: ";
  46.     }
  47.     cout<<"RESULTS\n==============\n";
  48.     for(int i=0;i<10;i++)
  49.     {
  50.         cout<<op<<temps[i]<<" "<<cl<<ctemps[i]<<endl;
  51.     }
  52.     return(0);
  53. }
  54.
  55. int ctof(int a)
  56. {
  57.     return (a/5)*9 + 32;
  58. }
  59.
  60. int ftoc(int a)
  61. {
  62.     return ((a-32)/9)*5;
  63. }

I'm not sure if the formulas are used correct!! (you can check this - do not need any programming skill)

Hope I hepled!!

I did one in C:

Code:
#include <stdio.h>

int Controller();
int CtoF();
int FtoC();

int main()
{
    Controller();
    printf("\n\n");
    system("PAUSE");
    return 0;
}

int CtoF(int c)
{
    int f = c / 5 * 9 + 32;
    return f;
}

int FtoC(int f)
{
    int c = (f - 32) / 9 * 5;
    return c;
}

int Controller()
{
    int temps[5];
    int corf[5];
    char *corfchar;
    int i;
    int i2;
    int result;
    for(i = 1; i < 6; ++i)
    {
          i2 = i - 1;
          printf("Enter temperature %d: ", i);
          scanf("%d", &temps[i2]);
          printf("Celcius (1) or Fahrenheit (2)? ");
          scanf("%d", &corf[i2]);
          printf("\n");
    }
    for(i = 1; i < 6; ++i)
    {
          i2 = i - 1;
          if(corf[i2] == 1)
          {
                      corfchar = "C";
          }
          else if(corf[i2] == 2)
          {
                      corfchar = "F";
          }
          else
          {
                      corfchar = "Unknown";
          }
          printf("\nTemperature %d", i);
          printf(" was: %d ", temps[i2]);
          printf("%s", corfchar);
    }
    printf("\n\nPress Enter to Convert Each Temperature\n\n");
    system("PAUSE");
    printf("\n\n");
    for(i = 1; i < 6; ++i)
    {
          i2 =  i - 1;
          if(corf[i2] == 1)
          {
                 result = CtoF(temps[i2]);
                 printf("%d C = ", temps[i2]);
                 printf("%d F\n", result);
          }
          else if(corf[i2] == 2)
          {
                 result = FtoC(temps[i2]);
                 printf("%d F = ", temps[i2]);
                 printf("%d C\n", result);
          }
          else
          {
              printf("Temperature %d", i);
              printf(" could not be converted\n");
          }
    }
    return 0;
}

I only did it for 5 temps It also lets you choose fahrenheit or celcius for each temp.

basically, none (special technique)... I mean that I'm learning C++ because I want to and like programming... so I spend a lot (believe me a lot) of my time programming in C++ (and other languages e.g. PHP).... I think the clue is to LIKE what you are doing... If you like programming, you'll see that in 1 or 2 months (if you continue learning it) you'll have improvements for sure.... That's all.

BTW if you want any ebook or something, I have lots of them....

More help required

Could i add the following to this program

float ctof(int,float*);
float ftoc(int,float*);

An example would be

#include<iostream.h>
#include<conio.h>
void cont();
float ctof(int,float*);
float ftoc(int,float*);

void main()

{

float a,temp[10];
int x;

cout<<"Please enter 10 temperaturesNow"<<endl;

for(x=1;x<11;x++)
{
cout<<"Temperature "<<x<<" :";
cin>>a;

a = temp[x];

cout<<endl;

}

cont();

getch();

}
//--------------------------------------------
void cont()
{

int y=0;
while(y<3)

{
clrscr();

cout<<"Please enter the scale you wish to convert to"<<endl;
cout<<"1)celcius"<<endl;
cout<<"2)farenheit";
cin>>y;

if(y=1)
float ftoc(int,float[10]);

if(y=2)
float ctof(int,float temp[10]);
}
}
float ctof(int x,float temp[10])

{

int z;
float cel,c;

can you tell me which websites with tutorials are you using (C only)? right now i'm reading this site: aelinik.free.fr/c/index.html along with this: cprogramming.com but as much as i enjoy learning new stuff, it takes time for me to grasp new concepts, and unfortunately, time is not a luxury that i have at school. i was wondering if you could point me out some websites with some other tutorials that might be of use to me. i rarely visit this forum, so if it's not a problem, if you could e-mail me at northrop2(at)gmail.com that'll be great!
