Borland had a free C++ compiler that I used a while ago... can't remember the exact name of the product...

http://www.borland.com/products/dow...d_cbuilder.html
I think its the compiler link...
Its a simple DOS based compiler, similar in operation to the Java compiler

I sugest jgrasp for an awsome envirmoent to program in. It by its self is not a compiler but you can use borland as already posted or any other popular compiler like microsoft visual c++ with it, and its easy. Its very good for avoiding syntax errors. Get it at www.jgrasp.com

microsoft released free versions of their compilers, i think that the best, its command based but check it out, they have all the compilers for all of their supported languages, including .net languages.
