Printing floats in a matrix

I need some serious help... I'm writing a program to find the inverse of a matrix, but I can't seem to figure out how to print the floats... the output is {0,1,0,0,0,0,0-1,0} but in a matrix looking formation.. this is the code to get that output... what can I change to get decimals???

float printIt (float a[][3], float b[][3])
{
int i, j;

for (i = 0; i < 3; i++)
{
printf ("\n\t\t ");
for (j = 0; j < 3; j++)
printf ("%.3f", a[i][j]);
printf ("\t");
for (j = 0; j < 3; j++)
printf ("%.3f", b[i][j]);
}
}

int main()
{
float a[][3] = {1/2, 1, 0, 0, 2/3, 0, -1/2, -1, 2/3};

// int i, j, k;

printIt(a,a);
}
