Programming games!!!

For those that have been programmin a lot do u guys recommend a newbie like me to start programing games because i was in borders and picked up Beginning C++ Game Programming from Micheal Dawson and i just finished reading probably the most useless book in C++ which is The C++ Standard Library by Nicolai M. Josuttis
which i give * 1 star out of ***** 5 stars because all it teaches things that u can learn im the free tutorials online and instead i read this 700 page book that cost me 60 bucks and sucked!!!!
so heres a tip dont buy it and if u did return and get money back

anyways so u guys recommend me to start programming little games

-and dont give me that bull of oh if u feel ur ready for it then do it

cause i hate that bull!!!

p.s. yo there r more than 30 people that get on this C++ furoms and only like 4-7 poeple barely right so wtf is with that!

Who cares if you are ready just do it for the experience. There might even be a good game in that book.

I do believe that the best way to learn a language and advance your knowledge is by assigning yourself a fun project... if that project happens to be a game, awesome! Just be sure to set achievable expectations, you're not going to make Doom 3 or Half Life 2!

Try making fun simple games... Tic Tac Toe... Tetris... Blackjack...
It's amazing how challenging even simple games can be!

sometimes it doesn't hurt to read the same thing but from a different person, because you might pick up on different pointers and tips that help you out. So although you bought a book that tells you basically the same thing maybe you aughta read it all the way through. you might learn something new or just a new way to do it.
