Trees

Hi, any good pointers to references on Trees and nodes.

I have a problem because I need to create an application, which amongst other things checks for root nodes, increases the cost of nodes of a table, finds the cost of a sub-tree in MySQL using Java (or any other language).

easy to do tree in Oracle with "connected by" clause, harder to do it in MySQL. It's more of a design issue.
