The following comment is directed to Editor NOT the author.

What a heckydurn? How many time you will publish same topic?

There are countless information in the Internet regarding installation of Apache, PHP, MySQl etc.

For most of the readers contents of the similar article may sound like "...unnecessary blah blah..."

Please publish something more useful and keep readers and visitors happy.

Thank You.

iahmed,

Thanks for your feedback. While there are various resources available that publish articles of similar topics, I felt this was a nice add-on to the original article, which allows users to further configure their server setups.

Also, you have to understand that there are some people who use DevArticles as either their main or only resource.

Anyways, having similar content is just another form of re-enforcing imporant topics.

Stability of this combo

Hello all-

I have been having a bit of an issue lately with my webhoster. She claims that she can not install PHP for me because we are on a windows box and that PHP is not stable to run with this combo. The box is running IIS 5.0. Is there any validity to what she says? If not, how can I prove it to her so she believes me? Thanks.

Greg

The article was about PHP on an apache server, not IIS, i am afraid i do not have any experiance with PHP and IIS,

i suggest you post under the general PHP forum at http://forums.devarticles.com/f4/s and someone should be able to help you there!

Matt

Working ok but...

Hi there, thanks for the tutorial Matt it helped a lot (even if it was a little off in places like: php.ini - [mail function] and httpd.conf - DirectoryIndex index.html index.php index.phtml index.php3 index.php4 for instance).

The issue I am having at the moment is a strange one, Apache2 (apache_2.0.48-win32-x86-no_ssl.msi) and php (php-4.3.4-Win32.zip) are working fine but the Apache Monitor in my sys tray says "Running none of 1 Apache services" with a red icon (should be green)?
The first thing I did was look in 'services.msc' and Apache2 is there and running ok. The service status is 'Started' and the startup type is 'Automatic'. If I open the Apache Monitor that also tells me that the Apache2 service has started ok and it has a green light...
Any suggestions regarding this would be great.

Also while I am here RE: Installing MySQL in your tutorial.
If it helps, from a newbie point of view I found it much better to install phpMyAdmin with the 'root' user and no password then using the GUI of phpMyAdmin simply create another username & password. The I changed the username & password in the phpMyAdmin config file to the new values I had just created and went back to the main phpMyAdmin screen and removed the 'root' account. Hey presto, works a treat and I did not have to go to the command prompt at all
