What are the differences between this and ez_sql?

Article related to ex_sql is the one on Data Access Objects (#664)

The article I was looking at (I didn't realize I'd lose the context...) which was URL
about a DAO approach to getting data from a database.
It seemed rather reminiscent of ez_sql.php, which gets you the data in a very similar way.
A comparison by the author(s) focussing on any differences would, IMHO ;-), be interesting and instructive.
