Actionscript 3.0 Capturing Keyboard Letters

Hi Everyone,

I'm trying to develop something like

What I am having a problem doing is capturing letters on the keyboard like letter a b c d e f g etc. I can capture numbers just fine, but when I press letters it starts changing my tool inside flash because it thinks i'm pressing the hot key. If you could show me code on how to capture the letters and maybe trace them out that would be helpful.

Hi Jonathan,
I had the same problem before. Here's the scoop. When you test the file in flash and try to use the letters that are also keyboard shortcuts, flash intercepts them and so it doesn't get to the flash player. If you try your published work in the flash "player" application, and not flash, or in a web browser I think you'll find it works. If you're stuck I think I have an example somewhere.
