Flash Newbie: Can Flash Do This...

I am considering using flash for a complex display simulation tool, but before I can continue, I need to find out if it is possible for two separate flash objects to communicate with each other. I need to have one flash object on one browser window control another flash object which is located in another browser window - same browser, just two separate windows. If not, is it possible for two flash objects within the same browser window to communicate.

Thanks for any assistance!
