Validating code + Flash, possible?
For all those standards geeks out there like me...
What's with the <embed> tag? It's not valid HTML 4.01, but without it, not even Mozilla renders the flash movie. What gives? Any ideas? Peace, Dewey |

the embed tag allows you to run applets in your windows browser, and if im correct (probally not), i think netscape introduced it when html 3 came out, but i cant be sure. basically everyone can view flash movies (99% of internet users have flash installed in their browsers, and IE 5+ (i think??) came with it, or was it 5.5??

Ah, but I'm not on Windows, and <embed> does not validate. If you try to put a flash movie in a page using only <object> and <param> tags, it won't render, even in Mozilla. At least I haven't been able to get it to.
Also, Netscape may have introduced it, but it doesn't mean it's correct. The <embed> tag is not in the W3C HTML 4.01 spec, and that is what I'm getting at. Is it possible to conform to web standards, and still get your flash movie to render? Peace, Dewey http://www.w3.org/TR/html401/index/elements.html |
