Can anyone direct me to a file upload tutorial?
I'm looking for a file upload tutorial that will enable a user to upload a webpage ( file including folder of images similar to what MS Word or Excel creates ....ugh! ), then they would create a link to that folder, stored in db, and displayed on their page.... I'm trying ot set up an oline webpage development tool for an elementary school where the teachers can update their own pages through a form page...add webpages they make in MS Word - about their speed, and then create links to them. They also need the ability to delete the pages...killing the links I can do now, but I don't know how to upload the pages.....any help?
Thanks, Lbd

Answer my own question : )
For anyone interested, here is an article I found...
link to file upload tutorial : I like the functions of this forum, it is what similar to what I am looking to do. A simple ( much more simple that this...) page with a input fields for a file upload (browse user's hd), a field for the folder (this would be set per. user)...maybe this is not needed as a user input, a field for the name of the page they are uploading that will create a link on the user's page... I am excited to get this working. Lbd |

Okay, here are some answers..
I feel like I'm just journaling to myself here, but I found some more answers...
I can't upload folders... I wanted to have users (teachers) create their own webpages in MSWord or Excel and save them, then upload through a form, I have this part under control now. But what I was having trouble with was the folder part. By default, MS Word / excel was organizing the images, tables, etc. in the pages into a folder. There is an option when saving as a web page, under the tools option to turn off this function. Then Word will save all the required images in the same folder as the page. A workable fix for me! Now I just need to figure out a way to store their links from the form in the db and display it on thier individual homepage... A question: how safe is it to store password information in an include file if the site has a .htaccess protection in the root folder? |
