Changing Loging Box To greet the user- URGENT

Hello everyone.

i have recently made a website and decided to use php for it. i hardly know anything about php but through many tutorials i am learning. so please when you help me, try not to confuse me!!

when making my website, i added a login box with a username and password on the side of the page. this login box is on everysingle page of the website. but after you log into your account, i want the loging box to change to something like:

Welcome User (Where user is the name used when they registered)

After this is shown, it should appear on all pages. Therefore, all pages should have "welcome User" on the side of the page. But also, i want to log the users off. So after they log off, the login box should appear again. Hopefully you understand what i am talking about because i really need this help. So basically, when the user is loged in, a different box should appear, when the log out, the login box should appear again.

For example, go to www.gamecolony.com : when you log in, it changes to welcome "Bengaltiger" (the login box dissapears.) Thats exactly what i want to do.

If you can help me then please reply asap.Dont confuse me with complex codes, just minor helps. If you know any websites that disscuss this issue then please tell me.

Thank you for all you help. I hope you can help me, bye.

There are a few articles on this website on how to create a members area - there are also dozens on the net - I suggest you look around first, and get a general idea on how to create a system.
