Creating thumbnails on Windows

Hi !
I have a requirement to generte thumbnails programmatically on windows . I serached on Platfrom SDK and on the net, and I found the method to create a thumbnail dynamically but the method speaks about Image height and width only. What if need to specify more details for my thumbnail ? Eg. i want my thumbnail to have DCF file format . Where can I find more info on this ?

An early help will be appreciated
