Need help w/ reg expression - replacing BB tags with HTML

Need help w/ reg expression - replacing BB tags with HTML

I am trying to use eregi_replace(); to change forum BB code to HTML tags.
For ex -replace [b:438efa67] with <b>
and [/b] with </b>
these tags could occur anywhere in the string.
I am tearing my hair out!!!
Any help greatly appreciated!
