Passing $offset to another page

Hi all,
I've created a previous and next menu to go through the records of a query but I would like to list one camp of the records in one page so that the user can select his starting point and then go back or forward.

To do this I need to pass the value $offset from this page to the menu page. It should look something like this:
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

<html>
<head>
<title>main </title>
</head>

<body>
<?php
$num=15;
for($x=0;$x<$num;$x++)
{
print '<a href="test.php?offset='.$x.'"> test </a> <br/>';
}
?>
</body>
</html>
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

However, when I start using the database instead of "test" it doesn't work .
It works for the first record but not for the others. The code for now is:
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
<?php
include('include/connessione.inc');
$connessione=mysql_connect($db_host,$db_user,$db_p wd) or die ('connection to '.$db_host.' failed);
mysql_select_db($db_name, $connessione) or die ('database not working'. $db_name);

$limit=1; // rows to return
$sql="select * from $db_table";
$result=mysql_query($sql,$connessione) or die ('problem with'. $sql);
$num=mysql_num_rows($result);
print $num. '<br />';

for($x=0;$x<$num;$x++)
{
print '<a href="test.php?offset='.$x.'">';

while($row=mysql_fetch_row($result))
{
print $row[1].'<br /></a>';

}
}
?>
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXX

I have played around with this for awhile but nothing seems to work maybe I can't see the trees because of the forset.
Anybody have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Niall

if you want to send php a variable you can put it in the query string

page.php?var_name=var_value
