It's basically Microsoft's version of Java... It's a set of classes that you can use to create your applications, much like in Java.

C# is the language that Microsoft is pushing for it's .Net stuff. It is similar to Java in style, but also has some of the features of C. You can learn about it and get some sample code at c-sharpcorner.
