Blob Probs ...

Please could somebody help me ... ?

I have successfully installed the mitch tutorial on Blobbing but am having problems. When I click to down load a file, it opens the downloadfile.php file with a load of gobbledegoop in it.

I have checked and double checked everything and am a bit stumped. Would really appreciate some help.

Cheers.

Hey,
I just double checked the support material and I tested it with a Word doc and GIF image and it worked 100% fine. Which version of PHP are you using? That article was written a while back so it's meant for PHP v4.1. If you're using 4.2+ then you'll need register_globals = On in your php.ini or HTTPD.conf file, however i don't think that's the problem as you say you're getting gobbled data when you try and download a file you uploaded, right?

Are there any spaces before the opening <?php in your download.php script? Also, try removing the @'s from the scripts to see if any database errors are being generated when the scripts are attempting to download the blobs from the database, etc...

no better ...

Hi Mytch,

Thanks for the reply. I've tried all that you said to no avail. I am running version php 4.0 i think - as far as my hosts say - but I am getting the downloadfile.php script to download with the gobble within it.

Any other suggestions?

Cheers,

What error messages are you receiving when attempting to run the script?

Be sure to temporarily remove the "@" symbol before any mysql commands... This will allow errors to display if any occur.

I think

I think you want the files that You download to have the same filenames, as they were when you uploaded them... right? Now, I have the same problem, it doesn't matter when there are some docs, or images, but when you want to make some application archive (.exe, .zip), then it's messy... Can someone help?
