Can PostgreSQL support chinese characters

hi,

I am currently involve in a project where I am supposed to convert an existing product in english to be multilingual-capable. This means it too has to support Chinese characters for use in the chinese market.

Can anyone shed some light here as to how you do it. I am using PHP and Postgresql. Perhaps, telling me how to do it in MySql too ?
