Unhappy installing on Windows 2000 server

I cant get MySql to run as a service on Windows 2000 server.
I've got it running on an XP(pro)... why wont it run on 2000?
All the programs on this server are installed on a 'p:' drive.. not the local drive...could this be the issue?
Any clues...I'm clueless..

Hmmmm, that shouldn't affect anything. Can you run the daemon? If you can run the daemon, then just add it to your startup folder (its c:\mysql\bin\mysqld.exe) and everything will work OK. Alternatively, you could try uninstalling it and putting maybe the previous version of MySQL on. There may be a bug in the release that you have...

...what about Terminal Services

Thanks for your response mytch...
When attempting to start the service from the Microsoft Management Console I get 'error 1067'... cant start service.
When attempting to start the daemon from the command line I get 'error 2003'... cant connect to localhost.
But I was using 'p:\mysql\bin\mysqld' not 'c:\mysql\bin\mysqld'
This server is also set up to do terminal services... dont know much about that... I was told that means I have to use the 'Add or Remove Programs' in the 'Control Panel' to install all programs. Does anyone know how or if using terminal serving effects MySql.
