whats the suitable operating system ???

hi all ...

i am about to format my pc now ... i want to install oracle 8i database and forms 6i ...what is the most suitable operating system ...shall i install me, 2000 or XP ???

i heard that the maximum requirement for 8i databse is win me ...is that true ...

in case u recomand xp or 2000 ...will the oracle need special configuration during the installaiton ??? ...

it seems selly question but i am really new to oracle and am trying to learn it my self in my free time ...

I would install either Windows 2000 Server or 2003 Server.
Enterprise RDBMS aren't designed for workstations.
Forget ME - not even in the same ball park.

thanks stumpy for passing by ... well, am not installing the enterprice edition ...its only the personnel edition andam using it for learning only ... however i have a personnel computer and not server ...

i use to have the same 8i database and forms 6i on personnel edition on millinium ...it works fine ... but i had to format the PC becuse a virus attacked it and spoil everthing ...

any other ideas guys ????

Use Windows 2000 and install the Windows 2000 edition.

Forms 6i isn't fully certified for client/server usage on XP.

Forget anything that isn't based on NT technology. Using 6i on 98/ME is a mess. Having a "complex" form opened in forms builder causes 98/ME to run out of resources.
