this could be a silly question but if i want to write an application that runs on the users own machine (pc, unix or bsc), but through the browser what would be the best database to use?
i need one that i can freely distribute. and that has very little instalation (or that i can create scripts that will install for the user). and of course that will run on windows, unix and mac. (and not neccessarily just on servers) is this possible or am i dreaming? any input appreciated, vauneen |

That's a pretty tall order. Maybe java using flat files or XML, if the amount of data's not likely to get out of hand.
