i have been trying to create this counter directly from javascript alone, so far though, i've got the easy part done, and it is ready to increment each time, but how do i get the javascript file to resave itself with a new value for the one variable, i have tried to use location.search but that doesnt work for obveous reasons, ive also tried alot of other things, CAN ANYONE HELP ME???

You can't. You must use a server-side language to save the number on a server somehow.
