Is there a tutorial for something like this?
I was looking at the menu on:
URL The menu to the left has some sublinks that fade into a horizontal bar on mouse over and then fade out on mouseout. This seems to be a combination of Javascript and CSS and I was wondering if there is a tutorial with this kind of concept where I could learn to do something like that....

Not a similar one but you can try
http://www.softcomplex.com/products/tigra_menu/ they also have some cool menu ...i don't whether this will help or not but i have implemented it and it doesnot take much time...
