Other - Javascript Logged In User Question

I am wondering if it is possible to complete this requirement using javascript. I am working on a site that after login the user is redirected to an html page from an c# aspx page. I am needing access to the username that the person logged in with in order to display certain links on the html page they are redirected to.

Is this something I can do with Javascript or do I need to look for another alternative?
