I have recently had my life turned upside down and have had to start from scratch in my career as well as personal life. I won't go into detail but I need to find a way to work predominantly from home and decided Computers and the Web would be the best for this.
Any way I am at a point where I am learning the use of the third party libraries such as Scriptaculous, dojo toolkit, yui, prototype, and Mochikit. I am hoping some one could direct me to a tutorial or site that shows how to use these things in a way that a beginner could understand. Thank you for any help ![]() |

js libraries tutorials?
If you're learning basic javascript the w3schools tutorial is good http://www.w3schools.com/js/default.asp
AFAIK most of the js libraries have fairly good examples. Maybe you're at the "advanced" level and should try learning a bit of js OOP? http://www.sitepoint.com/article/oriented-programming-1 Once you understand how the libraries work it should be a lot easier to figure out how to use them. Don't be afraid to study them, they're open source after all. ![]() And don't be afraid to experiment with them. Start with an easy example, get it to work, try a harder one, get it work, ..... |

First time any one has called me advanced. I was hoping that there might be a cheat sheet out there some where in the depths of cyberspace that would help me learn some of the libraries a bit faster. I appreciate the offers of help and don't think I won't take you up on it. This may be the most important thing I do for the next half of my life.

Personally, I've taught myself 80% of what I know on a need-to-know basis. Meaning, when I see something on a different page that I want to incorporate in my own, I'll track down how they've done it and tweak it slightly to meet my needs.
Starting from scratch, I'd learn the basics... the fundamentals of programming even if necessary. If you've got the hang of the basics, then focus on a language to learn how they implement it. Sounds like you've got that far, I just want to reiterate the point =)
