Can't open database in Access

Here's the situation: I have a database that I can't get into.
It is on a server, and I'm on a workstation accessing that server and opening the database. It is not split into a back end and a front end. I get the same response whether I try to open the database from the workstation or if I try to open the database from the server. I get the following error message: "The Microsoft Jet database engine stopped the process because you and another user are attempting to change the same data at the same time." I find this strange because I am the only one that uses this database, and I never open two instances. Can anyone help me? If you need more info, just ask.
