Hi there, I'm trying to create a report that has a chart in it based on a query I have
created. The query is set up so that the chart is based on a date range. The problem I'm having is that when you run the report it require you to input the date range at least twice. Does anyone have any suggestions on fixing this? Also, how can I edit the text in the Legend. I can do it in design view but when I preview the report it defaults back to what it was origionally. If the report is based on a parameter query, then there may be something wrong with the parameter definitions. Check the query design if you defined the parameter correctly and bracketed [] and placed the parameters correctly. You may have inserted the date field more than once on the grid. Run the query itself to test it.
If both the main report body and the graph is based on the same query then it will ask you for the date multiple times. This has to do with the section's On format property which cycles numerous times. Based on experience, it's best to design the graph on a subreport (details section and without any headers or footers) and imbed it into the main report. Carefully check the label properties of the graph(s), you may have missed something. This is easier to do in a subreport whereby only the subreport position and size needs adjustment after embedding. Finally, consider all segments of the report to be in subreports and then inserted in an unbound report. I hope this helps. |

Hi, what you've said makes sense but I've tried/checked those options. My report is sole for the graph, and had a heading and a footer including the date and pages no. I just did a little "process of elimination" to my report and found that if I took out the formula for Page X of Y, it stops playing up and I only have to put the date in once. Strange. Do you have idea why this might be?

It's possible that the report is corrupt. Form and report corruption was quite common with Access 97, although this seems to have been eliminated in later versions. Also check the date field in the footer. If this doesn't help, try to recreate the problem with another report, not a copy of the original ! Better yet, rebuild in a new Access shell. A good practice when one constantly adds, edits and deletes form and report objects.
