Basic Questions...
I've never worked with Access/SQL Server before, only MySQL. Looking at the name, is SQL server similar to MySQL? What is an Access server? What is ODBC? Do they have tools like phpMyAdmin?
Thanks ![]()

odbc stands for open database connectivity
you get this control panel thing in windows to create data sources and specify drivers and paths you can then use these from asp scripts and all sorts of other stuff. SQL server can handle far larger databases and its more robust, access is a very good program for creating database functionality without any coding knowledge, so its more accessible to the world. SQL server is a much more advanced step, but if you're good with MySQL then you could probably pick it up. http://foldoc.doc.ic.ac.uk/foldoc/foldoc.cgi?query=odbc thats my limited database knowledge out in the open! |

On a Windows system, can I use php to query a MS SQL database? Would I still use the same kind of syntax?
