Performance issue SQL 2000

Hi,

I have a classic ASP program running on MS Access 2000. I want to migrate to SQL Server 2000 to improve the performance, but during a test I found out when I open a page that has a lot of different recordsets, it appears to be much slower (4 to 5 times) than on Ms Access.

Surprisingly, when I have a page with not that much recordsets it is faster than Ms Access, like I wanted in the first place.

I have tested it with SQL 2000 MSDE and standard edition, I experience on both servers the same problem.

Does anybody knows what could cause this? And more important how to solve it?
