SQL setup help - local/host
Hi,
I've been using Dreamweaver and Access for all my DB's but am looking at using MS SQL instead, my Access DBs were easy to setup, I'm a little confused in setting up the SQL (what do I need to setup the database in terms of users being able to access the DB (Access did not require any configuring except creating a DSN). I need to be able to test locally (localhost) for testing, then am I able to copy the DB straight over to my hosting company (who will create a DSN for the DB) without changing anything just as I do for the Access DB? Thanks, Sanjay |

Just point your DSN to the SQLServer DB - it's that easy. You shouldn't have to make any other changes - that's the beauty of ODBC.
Transfering a SQLServer DB is very simple also - you will need to create a connection in the Enterprise Manager to the SQLServer at your hoster. Then it's simply a matter of running the DTS wizard in Ent. Man. and following the prompts. |

Thanks Stumpy, I will try the DTS.
