In INSERT setting two columns equal

This is the simplified version of an sql that doesn't work.

 insert  `message_board` (`index`, `init_thread`, `entry` ) values ( `index`, `index` , 'wwwwwww');

I am trying to insert a new row where columns index and init_thread will be set to each other. The index column is auto_increment.
