MySQL-Front Discontinued?

It would appear that MySQL-Front http://www.anse.de/mysqlfront/ has been discontinued. This was the best MySQL Windows GUI I've found yet. Does anyone know why it was dropped? I guess I'm back to PHPMyAdmin.

Yeah, I was let-down by the message too. The word out is that he has to focus on other things in his life right now.. or something.. weird that the words were "discontinued".. and not "on-hold" or something similar.. there's still a chance he'll continue developing it later

I'm surprised that he, at the very least, doesn't leave the site up and just not update the product --- luckily I get in the habit of archiving my downloads by website! I'd be upset if I couldn't get a copy if I needed to re-install the O/S.

Wow, that is a surprise... I didn't expect that at all!

It's a shame... I use it from time to time and like its functionality. I wonder if there's any chance someone else will take-over the project.

Need a Copy?

Is there a DL for the latest copy of MySQLfront? Think V2.5 was the last version.

Hmm.. well.. he said that he wouldn't give the source away.. because he may continue at a later stage.. if he decides not to continue, I hope he gives it away..

Who knows then... It may just end up being a lost program. What if he doesn't decide to continue, and decides to keep the source?

May be time to look for a new program.

Ben,

Hehe... I agree, but sometimes it's nice to get a graphical view. Besides, sometimes the black-colored DOS screen gets to me!

new options

I am searching for alternatives to MYSQLFRONT. Any recommendations?

Now that it is no longer available. I reloaded my system and went to his site to get latest copy and not available.

Hmmm...if you were in my shoes what software would you use to replace MYSQLFRONT?

Thanks;
steve

I'm not on my other machine to check, but someone sent me a URL to mySQLFront that someone else must be maintaining. That latest is now 2.5.

There was a mySQLFront forum, etc.

Nah, I still know how to use the console version of mysql, but most of the time it's quicker to use for example MySQL-Front while developing.. For example adding large bunches of data is much quicker through the graphical interface.. you don't have to escape quotes, etc etc..

Does anyone know if MySQL-Front (Version 3.1) will work with the new MySQL 5?
(I'm changing hosting providers.)

Thanks,

Joe

Mysql-front

Joe, I use mysql-front 3.2 (Last one I think) and it works on mysql5.0 fine.
I have only been using it a while and it has reverted to the Lite version. I do not need the functionality (As yet) of the full version but the extra dialog boxes telling you its out of date etc are a bore...Does anyone know a way to get the full version- You can't buy it now of course.
It seems mysql AB have stopped mysql-front from selling their product legally which sounds very unfortunate. I know mysql's license is considered dodgy by most lawyers and it has given me thoughts of using H2 or Derby. If I were mysql-fronts developer I would swap to them without a look backwards...
Steve
