Question about mysql and search engines
I was wondering how successful search engine spiders and bots will be able to index my pages if I am using a database to store all of my content. Sorry if this is a lame question, but I had never thought about it until now (this is my first database driven site). Any suggestions? Also, is the full text feature absolutely necessary if I want to build a search engine for my site or is that only if I want to speed the search process up?
Thanks! |

I'm not 100% sure about how DB content affects your search engines, but as for the full-text searching, it isn't mandatory to design a search engine... It does, like you said, speed up searches and increase the accuracy!
Btw, how's it going? Long time no chat! ![]()

It shouldnt really affect spiders, etc as all the spider recieves is html code. There are plenty of dynamic sites out there, and im sure they all have good listings in google.

Yeah, I don't know if I really need the full-text search right now or not. I guess I can always add it later. Everything has been cool, but unfortunately that project that I spoke with you about previously doesn't look like it is going to happen. Oh well. I have a few other projects coming up that you might be interested in though. I will let you know about them when I get more details. I have been letting everyone know that school is my priority right now, but they still are interested in waiting for me. |

Yeah, if it's not a priority for you at the moment, you can add it when needed... Sure thing... I wasn't sure what was going on with them, but I had a feeling it wouldn't work out! As for the other things, let me know anytime... You know my ICQ! ![]() Good luck with school in the meantime! |
