C# timeline control

Hi,
I need to create a C# timeline control for an application. It should
be C# managed control patterned after Outlook’s Journal. I really do not know what does "C# managed control patterned after Outlook’s Journal" mean. And I have no idea how to start. I do have knowledge of C#, but I need somebody to get me started. Any advice or tutorial is very helpful to me. Thank you very much!!
