Hi, I'm very new to .NET development environment and I would like to learn more about this .NET Development, but i don't have any idea where to start (what tools needed, where to get it, etc). I understand that i need to have IIS on my PC. Besides that, is Microsoft Visual Studio a compulsary tools for .NET program development? Please enlighten me and furnish me with more information.

Hi there yukimi.
Best place to start www.asp.net and http://msdn.microsoft.com/asp.net/ You dont need the VS ide to start you can use web matrix from http://www.asp.net/webmatrix/ which will get you up and running. then just have a play around, there's a ton of resources on both of those sites... happy coding |

I was in the same position as you some weeks ago, until I found this website http://www.gettingstartedwith.net/ It offers code samples for a .NET (2.0) website, including content management and multiple language support. It has been a great help to me, so it might be interesting for you as well (No IIS required when using the new .NET tools from Microsoft) Greetings, Darkane |
