introducing .NET : VB or C# ?

At work, we're thinking about introducing .NET.
We already have a VB application, but it isn't in .NET.
Only one person has experience in VB, another person has experience in Java, the rest hasn't in either one.

So our starting point is : one application in VB, most of the applications in RPG and Notes. If we were to introduce .NET, which language would you recommend ? VB or C# ?

Are there any interesting internet sites where VB and C# are compared to one another ?

Wink

halu...im a newbie in vb.net..
i find vb.net a little bit fast in making business app's.

my colleagues here said that c# is much better than vb.

actually it depends upon the programmer w/c language they are comfortable w/.

try to use vb.net and c# and you can see the difference..

Thanks for your replies. At work, we just took the decision to choose C#. The reason for this is that we bought Axapta, the ERP package of Microsoft and which is written in X++, a java or C#like language.
But it's always nice to hear what other people think about this.

To be honest, there's almost no difference in th ability of VB.net or C#. I've found there's very few things that C# have over VB, or vice versa. I personnaly use both, leaning on C# for DLL's because of the XML documentation it can produce. But, they both compile to the same IL code, and call the same classes, so whichever ou use, you get the same resaults. It's just mainly what you're used to, are you more for C style coding, or for VB style coding?

Just my 2 cents.
Tibby
