MYOB ODBC connection error

I am creating a .NET web application and need to access MYOB via MYOB ODBC driver.
however, i get this error:
ERROR [HZ080] [MYOB ODBC] - This Company file is unable to be accessed. It may be in use by another application in single-user mode or it has the read only attribute set. ERROR [01000] [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] The driver doesn't support the version of ODBC behavior that the application requested (see SQLSetEnvAttr).

The same codes I can access in a standalone windows asp application..

any ideas, any one?
thanks a million

I'm having the exact same problem, have you found a solution to your problem by any chance?

Thanks in advance.

I have found the following code works fine to allow a Visual Studio 205 express VB app to access MYOB via the MYOB_ODBC dirver...

I activate this code via a button on form event...

Dim myobconnstring As String
myobconnstring = "DRIVER={MYOB_ODBC}; TYPE=MYOB; UID=<username>; PWD=<yourpassword>; DATABASE=c:\myob16\clearwtr.myo; HOST_EXE_PATH=c:\myob16\myob.exe;"
Using connection As New System.Data.Odbc.OdbcConnection(myobconnstring)
connection.Open()
MsgBox("Connection to MYOB ODBC made")

' Do work here.

connection.Close()
End Using

Note that <username> and <password> do not require quote signs (e.g. UID=fred; password=qwerty123.
Also put in the correct locations for your MYOB file and applications. Again no quote signs.

hope this helps...

GrP

Hey gpatters888,

Thanks for the reply, however my code is working fine too, in VS .NET 2005 when i debug my web app everything works well, but as soon as I try to access the web page through a browser locally or remotely, I get this error: "System.Data.Odbc.OdbcException: ERROR [HZ080] [MYOB ODBC] - This Company file is unable to be accessed."

What I dont get is how come when I'm debuging everything works fine, but when i try to access it through the IIS server it freaks out.

Thanks again

Mike

As one possibility, try boosting the file system level permissions on the ASP.NET application accessing the MYOB database via ODBC.

I had a similar error message when using PHP to access the MYOB database via ODBC, and it was resolved by boosting the file system permissions of the PHP script.

What do you mean by boosting the file system permissions? How you go about doing this. I've been trying ot connect to myob for 2 days and still get nothing. THanks

Hello. By this I mean granting greater file system permissions to the anonymous web user. This would involve going to Windows Explorer, right clicking on the PHP script that actually connects to MYOB database, going to the security tab, and giving the anonymous web user increased permissions on the script.

You could begin by granting the anonymous web user full permissions, and if it works, then you're probably on the right track, and then you can begin thinking about security. That is, is it OK to grant the anonymous web user these sorts of permissions? (It didn't matter for me on an intranet application).
