The barcode scanner we've used once were just hmi devices which acted like a keyboard. I.e., if you scan an item it will seem like somebody just type the scanned numbers in the keyboard and then pressed enter.. So if I understand your question this might mean that you do not need to develop anything

Good luck

I do not know which is the best. I do know that there are a couple of brands out there. Our choice was dominated by the fact that it had to be cheap, have a usb connection, and have a holder in which the scanner could 'stand'. I think it cost around 80 euros, which is around 110 dollars.

You have to make sure what kind of barcodes you are going to read, there are a couple of standards and your scanner needs to support the one you will be working with.

I'm sorry I cannot be more specific. Just google for a provider close to you (ours is dutch, so it's probably not much help to you )

Good luck

Need Help BarCode scanner

Hi

Thanks for providing information. Wel let me study the market and choose the best one with the options u have mentioned.

About ur point What kind of barcode we are gng to read. I am not very clear abut this as we had developed ERP product so only thing left is barcode reader facility, I think user should be able to read any barcode images from the items he is gng to sell or purchase, so it depends on the items what barcode system they have used i mean the manufacturer of the items.

As per ur statement it seems we have to specify which barcode type to use.

So a bit confused can u plz enlight more on this topic.

Waiting for response

Don't worry too much about that. The barcode scanner we got was cheap but it supported a lot of types. We scanned every item in our office (books, staplers, etc.) successfully

It depends as you said on the product your customer has. A quick google came up with this:
http://www.barcodefaq.com/BarcodeMatch/index.html
http://www.bokai.com/BarcodeActiveX/barcodes.htm
http://www.agamik.co.uk/symbols.htm

Good luck
