There are 3 main steps.
1) get user input
2) Format a SQL query

3) Qeury db and get the result. (Note: I did not test this code for syntax errors / compilation errors. Please type this code into VS.NET editor to check for any minor issues)

Code:
Code:
'Step 1
Dim userNameStr, userPwdStr as string
userNameStr = trim(txtUserName.text)
userPwdStr = trim(txtUserPwd.text)
'step 2
Dim userExistsQry as string
userExistsQry= "Select * from tableName where colUserName = '" & userNameStr & " ', colUserPwd='" & userPwdStr & "'"
'Step 3
mySqlConnection = New SqlConnection("data source=dsName;integrated security=SSPI;database=dbName; persist security info=False;workstation id=wsName;packet size=4096") 'u can use your own conn string
mySqlCommand = New SqlCommand(selectSqlString, mySqlConnection)
Try
mySqlConnection.Open()
myDataReader = mySqlCommand.ExecuteReader(CommandBehavior.CloseCo  nnection)
'Always call Read before accessing data.
DoWhile (myDataReader.Read())
userFound = True
Loop
Catch ex As System.Exception

Finally
If (mySqlConnection.State = ConnectionState.Open) Then
mySqlConnection.Close()
EndIf
EndTry
