Question Why do Lan settings get changed?!

Thanks Judy, your response triggered my memory. I had the problem in the past but adjusted the Lan settings. Didn't think to check them again as I had already adjusted them. When I checked the Lan settings just now (after experiencing the problem again!) I see they have been changed to use proxy server. My question is how are these settings getting changed? I had cleared that box.

Talking Fixer was right

Thanks Fixer. Sharepoint was the problem in my case.
I develop dotNET on a W2K3-machine and develop Sharepoint-sites there too.

Kind regards, Ger.

vs.net and iis 6

Hi,
I had the same problem as most of you reading these posts. I created a new web root dir at C:\WEBSITES and shared it out at giving everyone full control. Although this is bad practice.... so was smashing my head into the monitor and keyboard alternatively
Everything worked fine when I created the project at http://MYSERVER (remote server running on win2k3 in vmware not localhost) and then tell vs.net to create the project in \\myserver\websites$\TESTAPP1. My virtual host is created as TESTAPP1 and my home dir is in C:\WEBSITES\TESTAPP1.
This worked, created all the files, etc. except I kept getting the following error....
"the web was created successfully, but an error occurred when trying to configure the application root for this web. Web projects may not operate properly without an application root. ......"etc....

here is the microsoft solution...
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/320451/EN-US/

trying it now.... let ya know how it goes.

Cannot Create Project Solution

I had the same issue. I look through all the solution but none worked. I am working with VS.NET 2003 and Windows Server 2003. I had to change the share permission to full Access and that work for me.
