Please read this, and since I am still a moderator I am just going to close this thread. Unless you want to see me go psycho at you.

James,

Sorry buddy, I had to re-open this thread back up as it seems from reading the thread you referenced that you just may go psycho here, however, everyone else seemed to be participating in the discussion without letting it get to them. Why close a thread and punish everyone because one person can't keep his or her cool.

For you mwichmann4, I suggest you revise your question to not be so broad as you can obviously see what this can turn into.

A better question might have been something like, "Syntactically, how different are PHP5 and ASP.NET". While the answer to this is obvious, it is focused and it can spawn better Q&A in the long-term discussion.

You would get many more concrete answers first of all and you avoid the risk of getting into a war. Developer wars (which BTW are extremely GAY) almost always start when the discussion is left so open.

BTW, I did close the poll as it would not have much meaning in its broad context.

Bah, you know that isn't the reason I close the thread. (not becuz im gonna go pyscho in the forum)

I just thought this topic is a pointless one because, you can't really comment on two different technologies. AND it is only a specculation that will only get people to bash each other as PHP5 isn't even out yet. I don't think there is a meaning in comparing the two.

And If the Thread asked a specific differences between the technology, then I would have been happy to answer it, but as for which one is better, it is by far the most frequenty asked annoying questions on the net. And most forums bann this.

PHP Code:

All you have to do is ask a more focused question and you will get results. If you are looking for an article on every situation case by case with examples you are better off searching this site and google as well as http://msdn.microsoft.com/ and http://www.php.net/
