Super Newbie!!!!!!
Hi everybody.
I'm am a complete Newbie!! And I need some advice about what books to purchase - and where better to get advice than in these fantastic forums! :- ) I really want to start getting in ASP & PHP to enhance my Flash & HTML sites. I learn well from books, and was wondering if anybody can tell me of the best books from a guy who has never typed one character of ASP or PHP in his life! Books that go from COMPLETE novice to Intermediate/Advanced for both ASP & PHP. Your opinions are all much appreciated Cheers Deadhands |

Here's a thread which may interest you:
http://www.devarticles.com//forum/s...=&threadid=3598 Some of the not-so great PHP books =) Personally I found PHP & MySQL Web Development [http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/t...glance&n=507846] by Thomson and Welling to be a great starting point. It will get you into Database work and PHP Basics, then builds up from there... There's some useful examples of PHP that can be applied to other projects. What exactly is it you want to accomplish by combining serverside languages and Flash? [any ideas in mind already?] |

Hi
I have been trying to find a way in which to dynamically load a Pdf into flash, and have the title of the pdf appear on my flash page? I'm creating a site for a client that would like to be able to load up their own Pdf's as and when they want without coming back to me every couple of days. I need to get it so that the title of these Pdfs appears on screen next to a button that will link to that pdf. I have been told that it is possible to pass a list of file names to flash, and have flash build the links dynamically... however server side code would need to be used (php, asp) to do so. Does anybody here know of a tutorial that would guide me through such a process? Deadhands |
