Question PHP + Faxing = ?

Hello all,

Due to the fact one of the requirements of a site I am working on is to have the orders placed on the site sent via email, I was wondering if infact it is possible to send faxes using php?

I'm fairly certain it probably isn't due to searching the internet for a means of doing it, but I wanted to make sure before I look for another means of doing it

Cheers for any advice / help!

Regards,

Adam

well,....you maybe able to do something like that in *nix,...everytime an order is placed it goes into a queue,...then have a cronjob to grab the new orders and fax them out. Of course you would need a phoneline/modem. I dunno,..I guess it could work...

Unfortunately, I don't have any information on the topic... But I would be very interested to know myself... If you manage to find a solution, please let me know.

I used to work for Visa/MasterCard and the system we used allowed us to receive/send faxes directly from the software we used, which was a web-based application...

I would guess that you would be able to send information to a fax the same way you would a printer or other device controled by a parallel port or com port... As to how to do it, I'm not quite sure..

But check this out.. might help

http://phpfax.sourceforge.net/

Only real limits that I saw on that one is that it must be on a *nix machine...
