I have a password form field which I want to insert into the db row called "password". But I want it to set the funtion for the row to be password. If it is not it will not be able to be queried by the login script. How can I do that?

Sounds to me like you want the data to be entered in the table encrypted rather than be simple text? I would think that it would make the table go crazy to see a bunch of stars and know that there's actually text in there
Think of the database as an access database of sorts. The data has to be raw data for it to be able to understand, I would think. The only one who's going to see it in raw format would be the admin and anyone who would have access. Other users wouldn't really see that. The only thing that you can do to encypt the data is put this tag in your HTML code if that happens to be what you're using:<INPUT TYPE="password" name="whatever"> That'll make anything typed in that text box *, but the table will enterpret that data as whatever is typed. So if you type "password" in there, it would come up "********", but once it gets to the field on the database, it's read as "password". Hope that helps |
