[PHP] Show table and select record

Hi all,
I just started programming in PHP and I'm wondering if it's possible to create a table (on screen) and have the user select something in it?

The purpose is to have a form page and a search button.
This search button will open a pop-up window displaying a table with records. Now I want the user to be able to select one row in the table and I want that record to be returned to the first page.

What's the best way to do this?
